About UCSF Dental Center
Located at 707 Parnassus Ave, San Francisco, CA 94143, UCSF Dental Center operates as a dentist serving San Francisco in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In San Francisco, popular practices book routine cleanings weeks ahead, so call early or ask to be put on a cancellation list; emergency and walk-in clinics are the exception. Across California, a new-patient exam with X-rays and a cleaning typically runs from about $150 to $350 without insurance, and many offices publish new-patient specials on their websites. Check the listing for hours, whether the office takes your insurance or Medicaid, languages spoken, wheelchair access and parking, then confirm by phone: insurance networks and providers change more often than the listings do.
The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 8 amβ5 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (415) 502-5800. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, dentistry.ucsf.edu.
Its Google rating stands at 2.6 out of 5 from 175 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.
San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Francisco is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I am so disappointed with this dental office. My appointment has been rescheduled multiple times causing more dental issues for me than I originally had. They donβt care they donβt try to work with you. They donβt care if youβre driving an hour away they really donβt care about your dental health issues. Honestly, if you donβt have Medi-Cal or dental, I would go far away from this facility. Cause by the time they even get to your filling appointment thatβs gonna need to be pulled because they made you wait a year or they kept rescheduling your appointment for other people who have the same issue but they feel like theirs is more important.

Before making an appointment to get an expert opinion on paying $600. for dental guards prior to radiation I asked if the practice accepted Delta Dental insurance; told yes and reminded dental guards not covered. I learned the following: 1.no expert dentist just new graduate wanting to learn, 2. understaffed as is common st UCSF the entire staffing was an interpreter for deaf dentist who spoke clearly & clearly did not need one, a front desk/telephone person being forced to assist, and a dental hygienist who rushed in after a 45 min wait to direct the other woman to take molds for dental guard3. I asked to wait until dentist arrived and learned I still needed to wait an additional hour! 3. I had planned a pick up after 2 hours & said so 4. dental assistant took routine X-Rays and 5. Dentist appeared for a 15 minute visit, 6. Learned the clinic no longer made recommendations re dental guards I needed to ask my dentist, ditto about warnings my ex a physicist gave me on the importance of pulling bad teeth prior to radiation- ask my dentist because the UCSF DENTAL CLINIC FOR HEAD AND NECK CANCER PATIENTS no longer has experience dentists!!! After m 15 minute visit to learn any question

I understand that in this building there are about 10 clinics or so. This positive review pertains to the Orthodontics Clinic in the third floor. First of all, the service I've received since 2025 has been nothing but great. I am being attended by a resident doctor (Dr. Park) and the orthodontist (Dr. Nichelini) who oversees my treatment. Both have been great. As an adult that dealt with horrible orthodontics procedures as teenager, I've never seen much change like I've with these two doctors all in ONE year. If you have insurance that includes this center or are in financial capacity for this, please look up this Clinic. The most impressive part is that not only have my teeth straightened over time but I no longer suffer clenching nor neck problems since my treatment has progressed. 10/10 In terms of billing, I appreciate the service by the Patient coordinator, Jingky Malaluan. She was super responsive and transparent about payment processes. I was able to pay the other half of my treatment in monthly installments. Otherwise I don't know how else would I have been able to afford this.

Curious why this student practice has been apparently maligned with deleterious management, or there lack of for last continuous 5 years. It's worth noting that the reviews from six years ago and beyond are routinely quite positive, even stellar. However, the past five years have consistently yielded reviews with a single star, highlighting the numerous billing and scheduling errors as well as repeated seemingly incompetent dental treatment along with the emotional distress and frustration caused by dealing with this practice. It appears that it would not be prudent to visit this establishment based on a consistent pattern of negative reviews over the past 5 years. Sad given such positive history 6+ years ago and had a great reputation to go with it.

I am so frustrated by my experience with this office that it compelled me to write my first ever Google review, and I feel an obligation to warn others to AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I initially contacted this practice because I had a spot on my tongue that was growing and concerning. While it ultimately was not cancerous, it was clearly something that warranted prompt evaluation. After booking the appointment, I was informed that the practice was out of network, so I rescheduled to ensure Blue Shield pre-authorization was obtained. Due to delays on their end, I had to reschedule twice before pre-authorization was finally received. When I arrived for my approved appointment, after taking time off work, I was told they could not see me and had to leave and return another day. From there, the situation became even worse. The billing department submitted the claim using the wrong insurance code, which caused Blue Shield to reject it. Instead of correcting the error, they attempted to bill me $716 for a roughly 20-minute visit that was pre-authorized. Over the past year, I have spent easily four hours of my time trying to resolve this, including multiple three-way calls with their billing
